Description
Firkin Point has a camping area for motorhomes/campervans and three tenting areas A, B & C.
Camping management byelaws are in effect from 1st March until 30th September. A permit is required to camp at this location during those dates. You dont need a permit between October and February.
Permits can be obtained online. You can book a camping permit for up to three nights in one area. You can book up to 8 weeks in advance.
A permit allows you to camp anywhere within your chosen permit area. You can arrive from 1pm and must depart by 11am on the day you are leaving.
Camping Management Zones include a number of defined camping permit areas within which a number of permits are allocated. A camping permit allows you to camp anywhere within your chosen permit area you are not allocated a specific space. Permit areas provide the opportunity to have a wild camping experience in popular parts of the National Park and have no formal facilities, so please make sure you come prepared.

This area has a motorhome/ campervan permit area in the car park and a few different tenting areas along the loch. There are toilets in the car park and beautiful scenery.

For tenting, only area B seemed to have good pitch spots when I visited. Area A was steep and overgrown. Area C is the beach (not great for inclement weather). There is a little walk to haul your gear from your car to the tent sites. The disabled toilet is open all night and is clean, the main toilets close over night. View of the loch is beautiful
